Boab inspiration!
The Boab Tree Restaurant
is among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide
We have some wonderful news to share… ❤️
The Boab Tree Restaurant has been recognized by Tripadvisor as being among the Top 10% of restaurants worldwide.
And while our name may be on the award, this achievement belongs to so many people.
To every guest who has walked through our doors, shared a meal with us, admired the artwork, brought your family and friends, returned again and again, or took the time to leave us a kind review—thank you.
To our incredible team, both in the kitchen and on the floor—you are the heart of The Boab Tree. Your hard work, care, laughter, creativity, and commitment are what turn a restaurant into a place people remember.
To our artists, friends, family, neighbors, and everyone who has supported this slightly crazy dream from the beginning—thank you for believing in what we were trying to create.
When we opened The Boab Tree, we wanted to build more than a restaurant. We wanted to create a place where food, art, creativity, and people could come together—a place that felt warm, genuine, and a little different.
Knowing that our guests have felt that, and that their experiences have placed our little restaurant in Estepona among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide, means more to us than we can say.
This recognition belongs to all of us.
From our family and our entire Boab Tree family—
Thank you for eating with us, creating with us, laughing with us, supporting us, and becoming part of our story.
We are incredibly grateful. ❤️
Anissa, Jorge & The Boab Tree Team
The Boab Tree Restaurant • Estepona, Spain
What’s with the Name?
Jorge Martinez Ruiz and Anissa Mendez, the husband-and-wife duo behind The Boab Tree Restaurant in Estepona, Spain, left their successful careers in New York to bring their dream to life. Combining their shared passion for art, hospitality, and community, they built The Boab Tree from the ground up—an inspired fusion of an artist’s studio, gallery, and restaurant nestled in the heart of Estepona’s old town.
One year after opening, they often find themselves answering a popular question: where did the name "Boab Tree" come from? The answer is as unique as their journey. Anissa was given the name in a dream by her late mother, though at the time, neither she nor Jorge had ever heard of a boab tree. Their research revealed its deep symbolism—resilience, creativity, and a sense of belonging—perfectly mirroring the essence of what they’ve created. Happily married for over a decade, Jorge and Anissa continue to build a space where art, food, and storytelling come together to nourish both body and soul.
